Boots

these boots were made for walking…

Over the Christmas holidays my mum and I went to London and Paris. One of my favourite days was spent just wandering around Kensington (where we were staying in London).

FARA Charity Shops

We came across a cool little op shop called FARA Charity Shops. The website says that “in 2009 it was ranked by the Sunday Times Style magazine as one of the top charity shops in London”.

Mum found a practically brand new pair of Ecco shoes for £5. I found a gorgeous pair of Hobbs heels for £47. A similar pair of Hobbs heels I found online were £180 brand new.

The shop was gorgeous with a lot of quality stuff, the staff were lovely and I would highly recommend a visit next time you’re in London.

Do you have a favourite charity shop that you go to? Please tell us about it. We love to hear about new and exiting places 🙂

Take care, until next time…keep restyling!

Almond and Jam Tart, Christmas, dessert, Flour, Jamie Oliver, Pastry, Plastic wrap, Sydney, Teaspoon, Zest (ingredient)

My sister (Jade) made her version of these tarts after seeing Jamie Oliver make them on one of his 30 minute meals TV program. She ended up making these on Christmas eve – it was so hot here in Sydney and we were all dripping with sweat but we all couldn’t resist scoffing down this tasty little treat!

Almond and Jam Tarts

Pretty Little Tarts…

What do you need?

Pastry

  • 1 3/4 cups plain flour
  • 1/2 cup self raising flour
  • 185g chilled butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup low GI sugar
  • 1/3 cup milk (play this by ear you don’t want it too wet)

Filling

  • 200g almond meal
  • 125g butter room temp
  • Zest of one lemon
  • 2/3 low GI sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla paste

The method

The Method:

  • Pastry ingredients – Mix wrap in cling wrap and rest in fridge for 30 min
  • Filling ingredients – Combine all
  • Preheat oven 180 degrees and get pastry from fridge
  • Spray muffin tin with coconut oil spray (or any other oil spray)
  • Sprinkle flour and roll out pastry about 1/2 cm thick we like lots of crust 🙂
  • Cut to squares to fit muffin tin
  • Layer the squares into the tin. Press in lightly to gain the shape of muffin tin
  • Take approximately a tablespoon of the filling mixture and roll it into a ball. Then do the same with a teaspoon of filling mixture.
  • Add a big ball to one muffin section. Then add 1/2 teaspoon of jam. Add the little ball of mixture and then add another 1/2 tspn of jam
  • Put in oven for around 30 min
  • Turn down to 150 and bake for another 10 min
  • Remove from oven to cool then remove from tin and eat your heart out!

Makes 12 and one monster one for the chef!!

Hi again, it’s Amour here for this post. I’m still in the Philippines but head back home to Australia soon. Last week my husband and I went to the Davao Convention & Trade Center for The 13th Biggest Bazar in Davao City.

Davao Bazar

Davao Bazar

It was the first bazar I had been to in the Philippines and I’d always wanted to go to one. The locals used to advise me not to because they were scared that I would get mugged! I felt safe though I had trusty hubby by my side to protect me 🙂

It was a mixed bag of old and new & factory and handmade goods – and in true Filo style – there was lots of food!

It’s another picture heavy post – so grab a cuppa and enjoy the pix 🙂

One of the first stalls that caught my eye was Burloloy@Craft Haus – all the pretty colours! I bought a few of their earring sets as they were handmade and I’m really looking for some quality handmade goods to give as gifts at Christmas.

Now it’s foodie time 🙂

And now for some random pictures of random stalls…

Headbands anyone???

Headbands anyone???

Here is my favourite stall – Crystallized Posh – look at all of the pretty collars! They really inspired me to want to create some – so I can’t wait to get back home and dig through my stash of goodies to see what I can come up with!

What do you think? Have you been to any good markets recently? Tell me about them – I always love to hear about them and the special treats that people have found.

Take care, until next time…keep restyling!
