Fascinator Restyle

Our client Kadyn was looking for a fascinator to go with his outfit for a costume party. As we had worked on the Dreamcatcher Restyle for him he came to us for help.

The flowers are made from a dressing gown and put together with some leftover feathers from a previous Fascinator Restyle. Luckily for us it was the same colour combination!

Another successful restyle and Kadyn continues to be a happy customer šŸ™‚ Here’s a picture of Kadyn fully transformed into Miss Vida Boem!

Thanks again Kadyn for your continuous support!

DIY Posy Flower – we call it ‘The Burnt Flower’

We first saw the Posy Pin Tutorial by Grace LacedĀ in the beginning of our life with Pinterest.

They are so easy to make and are our favourite of the DIY flowers. The end result is always very elegant and doesn’t look cheaply made at all. We have also found many great ways to use them – from headbands, to tank top embellishment and various other restyles.

Here is our tutorial on how to make ‘The Burnt Flower’. It’s our first one, so we are Ā open to any feedback you have so that our future tutorials are easy to understand and full of FUN!

Flower - Tools

Flower – Tools

You start with circles of polyester fabric (like satin or organza) – around 3 – 4 different sizes (and around 2-3 pieces of each size) depending how ‘full’ you want your flower to look. It doesn’t have to be neat and perfect – the messier the better!

You will then need a candle and lighter – in the picture we have a normal candle (it is all we had) – but normally we would use a tea light candle. It’s easier to manage the flame. For your first few times you will want to have a small bowl of water nearby in case of any out of control fires.

Step 1 - burn edges

Step 1 – burn edges

Step 2 - burn centre

Step 2 – burn centre

Step 3 - assembly time

Step 3 – assembly time

With this flower we used a button (again all we had on hand) but you can use any sort of bead as well or a clump of beads. We’ve even used an old earring before!

Final product - The Burnt Flower

Here’s a few links to Pinterest of how we’ve used this little gem in different ways.

You were warned that we loved them! Hope you enjoyed our first tutorial. What’s your favourite DIY flower?

Take care, until next time…keep restyling!

Hi again, it’s Amour here for this post. I’m still in the Philippines but head back home to Australia soon. Last week my husband and I went to the Davao Convention & Trade Center for The 13th Biggest Bazar in Davao City.

Davao Bazar

Davao Bazar

It was the first bazar I had been to in the Philippines and I’d always wanted to go to one. The locals used to advise me not to because they were scared that I would get mugged! I felt safe though I had trusty hubby by my side to protect me šŸ™‚

It was a mixed bag of old and new & factory and handmade goods – and in true Filo style – there was lots of food!

It’s another picture heavy post – so grab a cuppa and enjoy the pix šŸ™‚

One of the first stalls that caught my eye was Burloloy@Craft Haus – all the pretty colours! I bought a few of their earring sets as they were handmade and I’m really looking for some quality handmade goods to give as gifts at Christmas.

And now for some random pictures of random stalls…

Headbands anyone???

Headbands anyone???

Here is my favourite stall – Crystallized Posh – look at all of the pretty collars! They really inspired me to want to create some – so I can’t wait to get back home and dig through my stash of goodies to see what I can come up with!

What do you think? Have you been to any good markets recently? Tell me about them – I always love to hear about them and the special treats that people have found.

It’s another happy Monday everyone! Last week we posted Amour’s brooch from her wedding bouquet.

Wedding Brooch Restyle Project

Being that tomorrow in Australia is the Melbourne Cup we thought we would go with the theme – so a restyled fascinator it is šŸ™‚

Fascinator Restyle

Not the best picture – but Amour’s sister-in-law will be wearing it tomorrow for her day at the races – so better pictures to follow tomorrow šŸ™‚ You may also notice that the brooch looks a little different – that’s because at the last-minute Amour couldn’t part with her brooch – but a substitute was found.

What do you think of our restyle project? Gotta love anything with bling and feathers – right?

This week we have a new item for you to give us some inspiration. A bunch of bangles from the markets. *walk like anĀ Egyptian* Come on – you all had a Bangle song go through your head šŸ˜‰

Bangle Restyle Project

Can’t wait to show you how we restyle these beauties. Please comment on any inspirations you wish to share with us…we’re always open to suggestions.

Take care, until next time…keep restyling!
