Happy Wednesday!

This is the last installment in regards to my sister’s 30th birthday šŸ™‚ I dressed up as a Jellybean and I made her a Strawberry and Mint Sangria.

My sister’s name is Jade and she stated….actually moreĀ commandedĀ that everyone dress up as something beginning with “J”. A week before the party Jade started to stress out because she didn’t have a costume for her 1 year old daughter. So it was Aunty Amour to the rescue!

Jasmine's Jewel Costume

Jasmine’s Jewel Costume

I created a costume for Jasmine so that she could be a Jewel for the night. I found some bits and bobs to be her bling and made her aĀ t shirtĀ and a headband.

It turned out pretty good – and of course Jasmine was as cute as a button!

If you had come to this party what would you have dressed up as?

Jellybean Accessories

It’s Amour here again. Last Saturday was my little sister’s (Jade) 30th birthday – I can’t believe she’s now 30 years old! In order to celebrate this special occasion she asked for everyone to dress up as something beginning with the letter ‘J’.

After much thought I decided to come dressed up as a Jellybean. How did I do this? Well it was really quite simple šŸ™‚

  • Make a headband out of Jellybeans
  • Make a ring out of Jellybeans
  • Embellish aĀ t-shirtĀ with the word JELLYBEAN

Here are the steps I took to make my headband:

  1. Lay out Jellybeans on waxed paper
  2. Cover in a layer of clear spray paint make sure all sides are covered
  3. Let dry overnight
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for two more days.Ā This is to make sure that they Jellybean doesn’t melt and get sticky later on
  5. Cut a circle from the lid of a plastic container and glue on a piece of felt to cover it
  6. Starting from the middle of the felt covered side, use a hot glue gun to stick on the Jellybeans
  7. Once one layer isĀ completeĀ do a second layer
  8. Using another piece of felt glue the circle to the headband

Repeat the same process for the ring. For theĀ t-shirtĀ I just cut out the letters and painted on the word JELLYBEAN with different coloured fabric paints. Ta da! What do you think of my outfit?

Coming soon is the costume I made for Ā my 1-year-old niece –Ā Jasmine.

Lemon and Thyme Salt Scrub

This time we tried a salt scrub. At some point we saw this one somewhere but we couldn’t find it anywhere to reference in this post 😦 Our previous successful experiments have been Vanilla Sugar Scrub and a Natural Hair and Scalp Treatment. We found that the textures differed between the sugar and the salt. The sugar felt more like wet sandy mud whilst this salt scrub was drier and rougher. Now this doesn’t mean the salt scrub wasn’t any good – it was great on the more tougher parts of the body like feet, elbows and legs.

All that you need...

All that you need…

1 cup rock salt (not the big chunky pieces or the really fine stuff – something in between)
1/2 cup almond oil
Zest of one lemon
6 sprigs thyme leaves stripped

– pour salt in a bowl
– add lemon zest and bruised thyme leaves
– pour in oil and mix

The almond oil we used was purchased from Health and Happiness. Check out their website (it’s on their Facebook page) as well they have so much education on natural products – there’s also heaps of DIYs! Please do not disturb us – we are now very busy šŸ˜‰ just kidding – but seriously please check them out!

Another body scrub that we adore! We are totally loving making our own beauty products. Have you got many recipes you can recommend to us? Please do tell us about them.

Take care, until next time…keep restyling!

This is our Pinteresting challenge #5 for theĀ Pin It and Do It Challenge.

Polka Dot – The process

And here is our finished version…

Red and White Polka Dots!

We loved it so much we did it a little more in different colour variations – which one is your favourite? We also found an easier way to do the dots via this pin – DIY Nail Art Tools.

Hi everyone!

So here is our first Pinteresting challenge for this Pin It and Do It Challenge.

Here is the pin that inspired us on Pinterest. Instead of using a t-shirt – we decided to restyle some baby bibs we had on hand. So silly – we forgot to take a ‘before’ picture of the bibs!

And here is our finished product…

Pinteresting Challenge #1 – Bleach Print Bibs

After we made these the crew at Oh So Pretty the Diaries posted a DIY on their blog. We just love the horse silhouette – so graceful! Check out their DIY tutorial –Ā the DIY: SPRAY BLEACH SHIRTĀ – it turned out better than ours! While we were writing this we realised that the inspiration pin came via Oh So Pretty the Diaries.

Take care, until next time…keep restyling!
