Toothpick Scratch Art – Final

We had an unsuccessful photo canvas living in the garage – this was the perfect project for my niece and nephew to get involved in 🙂

Here’s what we did:

  • First I painted the canvas with a layer of white acrylic paint. Set aside to dry
  • Myself and the kiddos just coloured the whole canvas in different coloured crayons. In no ordered way – just however we felt
  • I then painted over our crayon masterpiece with black acrylic paint with a foam roller. This was to ensure it would be a nice thin even layer. Set aside to dry
  • This was the fun part! We got a toothpick each and just started scratching into the black acrylic paint. Again in no ordered way – anything goes!

Here are some close ups of our finished artwork.

What do you think of our artwork? We love it! Now I just need to find a place best to display my new artwork 🙂

Take care, until next time…keep restyling!

My niece Jasmine uses an old biscuit tin to hold her many hair accessories. It wasn’t very attractive….here is a picture of it…

So I spray painted it with White Knight Squirts quick dry gloss enamel in ‘gum grey’. I let it dry overnight and then glued on some rosettes my mum made from scrap material.

What do you think of my quicky restyle? I think it looks much better 🙂

Tin can restyle…

Once upon a time a pasta sauce was made and all that was left behind were these lonely little cans 😦

We found some scrap material and ribbon from our stash…

We made some glue then put it all together. Ta da! What do you think of our restyle?

Have you done any projects from empty tin cans? Please share them with us 🙂

Take care, until next time, keep restyling!

Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all had a great time partying with your loved ones – we sure did!

Our client Kadyn wanted a gift for his mother in law that represented one of the loves of his life – his pet parrot – Oliver Tweet 🙂

The end result was Oliver’s fallen feathers worked into a dreamcatcher.

We love how it turned out! What do you think of our restyle?

DIY Posy Flower – we call it ‘The Burnt Flower’

We first saw the Posy Pin Tutorial by Grace Laced in the beginning of our life with Pinterest.

They are so easy to make and are our favourite of the DIY flowers. The end result is always very elegant and doesn’t look cheaply made at all. We have also found many great ways to use them – from headbands, to tank top embellishment and various other restyles.

Here is our tutorial on how to make ‘The Burnt Flower’. It’s our first one, so we are  open to any feedback you have so that our future tutorials are easy to understand and full of FUN!

Flower - Tools

Flower – Tools

You start with circles of polyester fabric (like satin or organza) – around 3 – 4 different sizes (and around 2-3 pieces of each size) depending how ‘full’ you want your flower to look. It doesn’t have to be neat and perfect – the messier the better!

You will then need a candle and lighter – in the picture we have a normal candle (it is all we had) – but normally we would use a tea light candle. It’s easier to manage the flame. For your first few times you will want to have a small bowl of water nearby in case of any out of control fires.

Step 1 - burn edges

Step 1 – burn edges

Step 2 - burn centre

Step 2 – burn centre

Step 3 - assembly time

With this flower we used a button (again all we had on hand) but you can use any sort of bead as well or a clump of beads. We’ve even used an old earring before!

Final product - The Burnt Flower

Here’s a few links to Pinterest of how we’ve used this little gem in different ways.

Pajama Pants Flowers

Disco Shoes Flowers

Necklace Flowers

You were warned that we loved them! Hope you enjoyed our first tutorial. What’s your favourite DIY flower?

Take care, until next time…keep restyling!

Happy Monday to all!

Last week we presented you with our new project the Baby White T Restyle! Here’s the before shot…

Made by Love Notes Restyle Studio

Baby White T Restyle Project – BEFORE

With a little creativity and a crossing of the fingers we have ended up with this little number…

Baby White T Restyle Project – AFTER

All we did was position a paper doily – rubbed a foam roller in fabric paint – roll roll roll – and there you have it – pretty design for a pretty white T.

What do you think of our little restyle?

Next week we will be bringing you another t shirt restyle – we just haven’t found it yet 🙂 Amour will be hitting the Filipino ukay ukay stores in Davao City Philippines in search of t shirts needing a restyle.

Take care, until next time…keep restyling!

Hi it’s just Amour again for this post. Last Sunday my little sister (Jade), my niece (Jasmine) and I went to the Baby & Kids Market. This is a market where you can buy new and pre-loved baby goods. This one was held in Kellyville NSW. These markets are held all over Australia so check out their website to see where their next market will be near you. That’s if you are an Aussie 🙂

So here are the pix of the market itself…

Look at all the pretty items at the JasmineJayde stall – they aren’t handmade but still so pretty and they have definitely inspired me for some future projects.

And look at this gorgeous dress – wish it came in my size!

Pretty Dress!

I wonder if I could make my version of this…

Now here’s the part we all love…the treasures purchased 🙂

The treasures!!!

My niece Jasmine will continue to be the best dressed baby in town!

Later this week I’m off to the Philippines for work and to see my hubby! It’s been 4 months since we last saw each other  While I’m there I’ll also be checking out some of the local ukay ukay. Ukay ukay is the Filipino Flea Market or Charity Store or Trash and Treasure or Op shop or whatever it is that you call it in your neck of the woods – basically I CAN’T WAIT!!! 🙂

Take care, until next time…keep restyling!

It’s another happy Monday everyone! Last week we posted Amour’s brooch from her wedding bouquet.

Wedding Brooch Restyle Project

Being that tomorrow in Australia is the Melbourne Cup we thought we would go with the theme – so a restyled fascinator it is 🙂

Fascinator Restyle

Not the best picture – but Amour’s sister-in-law will be wearing it tomorrow for her day at the races – so better pictures to follow tomorrow 🙂 You may also notice that the brooch looks a little different – that’s because at the last-minute Amour couldn’t part with her brooch – but a substitute was found.

What do you think of our restyle project? Gotta love anything with bling and feathers – right?

This week we have a new item for you to give us some inspiration. A bunch of bangles from the markets. *walk like an Egyptian* Come on – you all had a Bangle song go through your head 😉

Bangle Restyle Project

Can’t wait to show you how we restyle these beauties. Please comment on any inspirations you wish to share with us…we’re always open to suggestions.

Take care, until next time…keep restyling!

Blacktown Drive-in Theatre, blacktown markets, cake, nana jacks cake art, recycle, restyle, upcycle

Hi it’s just Amour again for this post. Last Sunday my little sister (Jade), my niece (Jasmine) and I went to the Blacktown Markets. Blacktown Markets is located in the Blacktown Drive-ins on Cricketers Arms Road, Prospect NSW, Australia.

This post is mostly pictures – so grab a cuppa and maybe some chocolate to get you through it 🙂

During the whole time that I was taking the pictures of my new items my niece Jasmine kept trying to get into the shots – so here’s one just for her – she is so cute!

Take my picture aunty!

So here are the pictures of the markets itself…

Blacktown markets – oh where to start?

So much to look at!

The oh so cute cake stall

The cake stall was Nana Jacks Cake Art and they had some truly cute creations! They can be contacted via +61413572122 – their website is coming soon!

Now here’s the fun part – the purchases…

nailpolish, bracelets, shoes and spray paint *happy sigh*

Jade modelling the apron, kids books and future restyle projects

More future restyle projects

Box of dye anyone?

I spent a total of $45 for the whole lot! My favourite purchase was definitely the box of dye for $7! Can you imagine what I could do with all of that? So can’t wait!

Take care, until next time…keep restyling!

Soooo ummmmm we were just working on the summary post of all of our pin it and do it challenges for tomorrow – and we realised that we are missing #4! Poor number 4! *blush*

That’s ok – we had a restyle that we were going to post later on in the week – so instead here it is 🙂

Here is the pin that inspired us on Pinterest. We did a slightly different spin on it – we painted with old nailpolish instead.

And here it is…
